The Things They Say

Since there has been a lot of questions from the boys about the new baby I thought I would include some of our recent conversations. I love how little minds think!

Kolbe: How does the baby come out?
Me: (slight hesitation)
K: Your belly will just open up and then you press a button and it will go back together.

Ethan: What’s in your belly?
Me: You know, a baby.
E: Hmm…interesting.

Kolbe frustrated that some of his clothes are getting too small.
Me: It’s a good thing buddy, it means you are growing.
K: Well, we’ll see.

E: Will the baby have diapers on when it comes out?
Me: No, the baby won’t have diapers on right away. We will have to buy some.
E: (In a squeaky, high pitched voice) And then it will wear little, little pajamas!

One of my sister in-law’s is due with a baby in November.
K: You and Aunt Jess are in a belly race, I think you will win.
Me: No, she is going to have her baby first.
K: (Comes and touches my belly) No, I think your belly bump is bigger and probably winning.

Me: Goodnight Ethan, I love you.
E: Goodnight belly!

Me: What do you think we should name the baby?
K: Pepper-Rhubarb. That’s a good name.

LOL! Yes, Pepper Rhubarb. Where did he come up with that one?? I love love love that they are now focused so much on baby! All the love they already have for their little sibling. If you think about it, there are just a few inches of skin between them and their sibling. I’ve heard people talk about it like Jesus and John the Baptist and how John sensed the presence of the Lord and danced before his Lord like David danced before the tabernacle. In my home I have a coffee table book called Conception to birth: a life unfolds by Alexander Tsiaras, which shows pictures of the baby and its actual size at different stages. I like to open it up and show them pictures and show the the size of baby now and what is developing and how cute baby looks. This being my third, I guess my uterus “remembers” as my mother puts it and my belly is huge!! I never was showing back when I had my 1st and second, but now I look like I’m half way through already! Anyway, it makes the kids more excited! Or maybe I’m just winning in the baby race??

Haha! Being this is the farthest I have been with any of my pregnancies I am not showing a lot, just looks like I ate too many cookies!! The boys actually get excited when my belly looks bigger, generally after I eat, because they think it means the baby is coming soon.
